If we are frank enough with our self, our country Ethiopia is known world wide for its human made tragedies; such as war, under development, undignified proud, cultural illusions and etc.
Today we live in the 21st century which heralds freedom not only for human being, but also for every living things including plants and wild animals. But it seems that some of Ethiopians have been still living mentally in the 18th century. That is why some of them declare Ethiopia as a land of one nation, having one language and exercising one culture. Such people have never challenged them selves to believe and accept the reality of Ethiopia as an empire state.
Some of Ethiopian social scientists are not even willing to advance their scientific school of thought in order to bring the truth to light. Rather they fight day and night to bring back the “golden time” of their forefathers in the 19th century for their kids in the 21st century. But it will not work. Whether we believe and accept it or not the “golden time” of apartheid is passed once and for all in South Africa since a decay. Now we are witnessing that the majorities are ruling that country under the practicable principle of the real democracy which respect the rights of the whole nation including individuals, majority and minority. The people of the Southern Sudan are guaranteed to exercise their natural right of self determination after five years of common and transitional governance. The experiences of the coming five years will decide the fate of the future of the empire state of Sudan. After five years of co-existence under common transitional government the people of the southern Sudan will decide either to proceed with co-existence or they will declare their own free state. The situation in Israel is going to be similar. That means there will be no more one state of Israel. The Palestinians will declare and enjoy their separate state from Israel within near future.
The fate of Ethiopian empire can not be different in the current dynamic world. Therefore it is better to abandon the sentiment of latent fanaticism which declare Ethiopia as a country of one nation having one language and exercising one culture. It is advisable if we challenge our self with the real facts of Ethiopia instead of illusionary thinking und wishing. I think this is the better way in order to transform the empire state of Ethiopia in which some have been benefited and others are marginalized and subjected in to a democratic mother land that will care for all members of its nations and nationalities equally.
Emana, you said it well. Habeshas are just kidding themselves if they think Oromo and other nationalities in Ehiopia empire will live as one people and one nation. I cannot see how that is possible if you keep depriving peoples basic human right? It is thing of the past. People today know that they are entitled to basic human right right. Any government will try to supress that for sometime but the end never been good. You should not look any further than Ehiopia's last 30 years history. The way it is going Wayanee is also down the same paty know. It will not be too long ...
The bottom line is we Oromos should do what we need to do. Lets not wait for some Organization to do our job. Let figure out how we tackle our own problem as individual or group. The wait for one of those Oromo Organization to break through is killing as. Lets figure out how we intesfy Oromo movement as individaul. Lets habeshas deal with their own issue.
